Mahavir Mahavidyalaya, Kolhapur established in 1970 is one of the reputed institutions in Kolhapur and is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur. Since inception, it has been working with a vision of empowering students with higher learning and research capabilities through value based education and working for better education for better society. Though the college is in urban area, majority of the students of the college are from rural area. Most of them are from socially disadvantaged and economically backward sections and minority communities. The institute is recognized as a Jain Religious Minority College. The college was accredited with A (CGPA 3.11) grade in September, 2017 in its 3rd Cycle by NAAC, Bangalore.
